Victoria, The Place To Be : Day One

Your long awaited entry is here! "That's not rain, it's liquid sunshine!" I will always remember what the bus driver said as he drove along the streets of Melbourne City. It was drizzling and he cracked that joke I thought was not only the heartwarming optimism that the people in but left a deep impression in me.

Hey, it's me in the bustling city of Melbourne. Too bad TYH isn't with us, or else it would be FUN x 100. But hey, having 3 girls traveling together isn't a bad idea after all! This trip made us understand each other better, and oh, what else..shopping? Ha you really don't wanna know.

The place we were lodging in was smacked right in the middle of the city. Accessible, safer and very convenient in terms of shopping, food and sightseeing. It's an apartment and only cost us 800AUD for the rest our 9-day stay in Melbourne.

Break of dawn

The Kitchen which reminded me of the person next door
(He/She whips yummy Chinese Food! The aroma literally travels!)

Balcony! Check out the state library!

The humble living room. See that sofa? I slept throughout the entire stay.

I know many are particular, verdict: their toilets are SUPER clean.

We got there by this shuttle service called SkyBus (26AUD/2-Way) that has an additional free hotel shuttle service which fetches you back to the airport.

We were greeted by the freezing ass cold winter here in Melbourne but we're all ready to fight it!
In order to blog proper entries, I have decided to blog according to categories, i.e. Food, Places of Interests, Shopping..if there's more to come, I'll add on.

Day 1 was nothing much really. Besides planning our day tours and catching up and stoning in Starbucks, enjoying a hot cup of Starbucks coffee which Samantha has craved for since I don't-know-when (Perth has no Starbucks, apparently), our day was nothing but shopping and eating and walking.

Happy with her dose of caffeine.

Bitching session, what we do best. :)

Aveline with heavy eyebags!

Super messy yet cool shopping arcade.

Runway model Aveline.

Waiting for me by the changing room.

Witchery, a shop Samme loves patronizing

Lunch was...horrible.

Samme & Ave thought so too.

We caught a glimpse of the famous Flinders Street Station!

Happy!

Advertisement? Lovely

The day ended early. 6P.M and most retail outlets are closed for the day which to much our dismay, shopping had to end too. But sightseeing went on, with Samantha and me prowling the streets at night with the already "dead" Aveline back home watching TV.

Vogue wants you!

F.Y.I only.

Day Two will be up tomorrow! :) Just keep a watch out for more pictures and interesting stuff about Melbourne, the place to be.

Achy

Creak! Crack? Croak.

That's probably what you'll hear when I walk pass you. Yes, I'm back from Perth and now practically doing my dirty laundry and trying to keep myself away from all the yummy food that awaits me at the nearby hawker centre. You don't know how desperate I am from all the sandwiches, and fried battered food I had in OZ that made me crave for local delights in Singapore! Like what I always tell Aveline and Samantha, I can eat a cow!

Cheers mate!

Anyway, as I know you guys are still patiently waiting my update of OZ, I have to apologize. As much as I want to update about OZ, I've got a gazillion photos yet to be recieved and much editing to be done so those might take time. I would most likely blog about OZ next week? :) Your wait is truly appreciated.

Meanwhile waiting, why not catch an awesome movie I've caught with Samantha called Mozart and the Whale, this awesome film starring Josh Hartnett and Radha Mitchell? A soul lifting, sweet and cute (of course, with Josh Hartnett in it), dramatic, romantic comedy inspired by the lives of two people with Asperger's Syndrome, a form of autism, whose emotional dysfunctions threaten to sabotage their budding romance. By the way, we both love the entire film, so if you're wondering if it's worth watching, go figure.

Whee, now that I'm done with what I wanna say, I'm off to my beauty sleep. :)

Are You Feeling Me?

Hello hello!

Missing me, anyone? Yeong's reporting love from Perth and I just wanna tell you how much I miss eating seafood hor fun (long story; I'll elaborate later after I've returned from Australia)

Anyways, I've about 4 more days in Perth here and I know this might sound exaggerating but the whole trip is just amazing (although I really think the weather in Perth is cranky and Melbourne is just freezing ass cold) Shopping, food and sceneries...you can't ask for more!

I'll blog more when I return, with Melbourne's and Perth's best.

Watch out for this space!

This Might Make You Sick

this is NOT a party or cocktail hat
dickhead

this isn't happening in japan, neither is it singapore or malaysia, but C for china; one of the cheapest places to travel, eat and shop! and guess what relation does it even have with the above picture? those condoms are recycled. you didnt hear me wrong, recycled! meaning that the goddammed condoms were onced used by one of the 1000000000000000 sexually aroused men in china. the best part has yet to come.

if that was hard enough for you to swallow (no pun intended), dear ladies, the rubber bands or rubber ties that neaten up your beautiful hair could be one one of the recycled used condoms which is indeed, what the fuck. and guys if you think it's funny imagine your girl friends or loved ones using them. it's not even close to funny :(

as stated in the news:

"These cheap and colorful rubber bands and hair ties sell well in the city, threatening the health of local people and tourists," the paper said.

"There are a lot of bacteria and viruses on the rubber bands and hair ties made from used condoms," a dermatologist at the Guangzhou Hospital of Armed Police, who asked to be identified by his surname Dong, said.

"People could be infected with AIDS, warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while weaving their hair into plaits or buns," Dong was quoted as saying by the paper.

A bag of 10 recycled hair ties costs only 25 fen at local markets, which is much less than the normal rate for such products, the paper said.

my gooooooodnessss. imagine tourists who traveled to Guangzhou, spotted such cheap deals and decided to buy and import back to motherland after reselling them. ha!

Batam

i enjoyed the trip to Batam.

it was relaxing but very rushy. i definitely had a culture shock when i first stepped into Batam. it looks developing.. and still, developing. Batam is 1 hour earlier than singapore which means i feel younger? HA.

Batam looks like singapore 40 years ago. with busy cars and little traffic lights and i guess, rules too. the common races found in Batam are the Malays and the Indo-Chinese, seldom see Indians though. communication wise are simply Malay and Mandrain. however, the national language is Malay therefore all kids in Batam learn Malay as their mother tongue. and that means i cant really communicate with these people except for my broken Mandrain and using the simplest English i can to do my shopping.

and their currency are like banana notes. -.-

and so i went shopping with my girls and it was fun. elizah brought her 14 yr old cousin, candice whom i cant believe i would get a long so well with and not to forget lijing, the love of my life (hahaha)

my first stop was at a Ralph Lauren shop. okay now people, a little something that i know in Ralph Lauren in Batam is that they look fake, however its authentic due to the fact that the RL in Batam is registered under Ralph Lauren. so what im trying to say is that the RL looks fake but its actually the real stuff, if you get what i mean.

then off to this mall BCS mall i think! and i got two bottles of perfume, both fakes but smells real. and off to another mall, DC mall and got myself another two bottles and some freshly made keropok and kueh lapis. seriously, these Indonesians are really good at this shit and they taste shittily yummy.

oh and if you are wondering which perfume ive got, they are
  • Ralph Lauren Polo Sport
  • Burberry London
  • Escada Paradise
  • Davidoff Woman

all 4 smells spanking real, i tell you. even the bottles look real. and guess how much i got them for? you will kill me if you'd know the price. its 8SGD and its REAL DEAL okay.

speaking of branded goods, Batam has TOOOO MANY fakes. fakes as in real fake fake, not looking fake but real. from LV to VSL to GUCCI to PRADA. seriously, TOO MANY.

my last pit stop was at the hypermall which i fergot what its called. i got myself a rusty trucker cap and a rusty wallet for my sis. also, got her a adidas tee and guess how much it costs? SGD13!

conclusion : we need more doses of shopping in Batam.

Batam is not only a place for sex trade, its also a place where everyone is familiar with, many cultures and colours. people though less fortunate, enjoy whatever they have instead of us singaporeans still complaining. just dont get it haha

the children, they look so happy. oh do you know kids attend school on saturdays as well? and they have field trips too. though people laughed at me when i squealed, "oooohhh! look outside! kids having field trips!" which made me blush la. singapore kids should know how lucky they are with what they have. its just an hour trip and stepping into a foreign country who are not so lucky is quite depressing.

ive learned a lot in this trip and i was happy. happy with shopping with girlfriends, of course!

5 A.M

its funny. i woke up at 5 in the morning and yet i could not take the earliest train. okay maybe i spent more time in the bathroom thats why.

oh im beginning to like the mac in harbourfront. they provide you with internet services, just like the one in changi airport! and i know that doesnt really matter either.

i could smell pancakes and the burgers and its making me really hungry. its really tempting though. but i know if i wait, im gonna enjoy more than i expect in batam. they always say, "leave the best later" and now i know what it really means.

so random. shall stop typing. will talk about my trip later when im back. have a great day ya'll folks!

much love.

Daydreaming

you know how funny it feels to be alone in the class when everyone else is busy doing their thing? thats why ive decided to blog this entry.the mouse clicks are so irritating i swear i will burn down the computer lab. okay, that would be arson but i guess nobody cares either.

okay i guess im pretty alone now - with alicia being in korea enjoying skiing and kimchi and samantha hanging out with same name and the harajuku kids. ugh, so tempting. nevermind i still have my batam trip haha -.-

whatever.

oh guess what! i bought grey's anatomy season 2 and seriously you dont know how wide my eyes were opened when i see the DVD set laying on the racks in HMV. my face glowed with joy, most definitely. you dont know how long ive waited for this and now it finally got out from the hands of the censorship board. i wont be surprised plentiful of scenes were cut. ya'know what i mean. though it cost 10cents less to 80bucks, im still overjoyed because i am really intrigued by this drama. from how its directed, the scripts, the casts, the music..everything is just so cool and addictive! like poison. i wont mind being poisoned by grey's anatomy, really.

guess i wont be lonely anymore with this duing november. pray for me folks. (:
