Support Hungry & Abandoned Kids

prior to 3Point8's blog entry, i've decided to write yet another "i might piss you off badly" entry.

let's put it this way, again! a guy who went bankrupt, and homeless, decided to put up a blog and tell people that "i am homeless and help is needed" is clearly understood. he is poor, he doesn't have money, he decides to write his story and he needs help a.k.a money. not bad of an idea afterall! i mean, this guy admitted his mistakes and told an inspiring story, that's something worth to be praised. but what i don't understand is, close to 27 million of population in Malaysia, which is close to 6 times the population of Singapore, why is he the only one who seemed to need help?

ps: have anyone of you caught The Terminal starring Tom Hanks? it's based on a true story.

every needy person needs help! or else they wouldn't be called needy, isn't it? and i understand Mr. Homeless' plight that he doesn't have a roof to stay under, but isn't he trying hard like everyone? i believe he is and i don't mind giving him my moral support.

from 1 to 6, which of the following will you help more?
  1. young abandoned children
  2. sick young patients with diseases and penniless
  3. children who went through child abuse
  4. residents whose apartment got burnt down by arson
  5. people who lost everything overnight after a break-in
  6. people who went bankrupt and learning to live the tough way
if it were me, i would have chosen 1, 2 and accordingly. it's the same thing! at the end of the day, help is being given, but in all different ways. who knows the help given is indeed great help for them?

be it in Singapore or Malaysia or anywhere in the world, i would like to urge everyone to do their part and lend their hands to children who are abandoned or sick. they are the ones whom i think need help badly.

guess we're born too lucky to even realise the ones who are in need of help. many of us, instead of thanking for the good lives we lead complain about how ugly it is (that includes me), how shitty is it without knowing that there are people out there who need help more than us and even smiling their lives away. let's give some thought about it.

i would like to dedicate the following song to everyone. i believe Jacko wrote this song for a reason. ;)

We Are The World by Michael Jackson

There comes a time
When we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We're all a part of God's great big family
And the truth, you know, love is all we need

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a choice we're making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me

Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lifes will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones to bread
and so we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a choice we're making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me

When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well let us realize oh! that a change can only come
When we stand together as one

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There’s a choice we're making
We’re saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me

We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a better day, just you and me

We are the world
(are the world)
We are the children
(are the children)
We are the ones who’ll make a brighter day so lets start giving
(so let's start giving)
There’s a choice we’re makin’
We’re savin’ our own lives
It’s true we’ll make a brighter day, just you and me

From 1 to 6?
Probably #1, or #3 accordingly.
Then again, if i have the chance to blog about #6, why not?

Then again, its good that another blogger points out what what is more important. (or in this case, who are the who deserves more help)

Way to go!

hi, there are definitely lots of people needing help, as you listed out. however, most of the time, we are more concerned with the people around, those we know, or those having some kind of linkage with us (e.g. your friend's friend, your cousin's classmate etc).

it's just like, we read and hear about a lot of robberies everyday from the newspaper. however, we might not be of much concern of it, till the day, when someone close too us also encounters the same.

in a nutshell, i don't think we should really prioritize who to help, but just help as much as we can. if it only needs few click and typing from you to help, immediately, without the need to even move your ass away from the chair, what's wrong with doing that?

should we think that, oh, the orphans need more help. i pay a visit to the orphanage first, then only i come back to post a comment of encouragement?

@joshuaongys:lol yup let's heal the world like what YiyingT has said :)

3Point8: lol thanks kokfye :)

hann: of course i will help someone close to me! i mean, thats undeniable! however, the problem is...Mr. Homeless is anonymous? he did state that he won't be revealing any name. even if we were to help him, what if all of this is indeed a scam? [note: he started his maiden entry on April 1st]
what if, he turns out to be not what we think he should be?

regarding to the whole children needing more help, i said that because i think children are helpless, unlike adults like most of us. fyi, i have always wanted to go to an orphanage, however i have never been to one.

still, thank you for pointing out what you think should be. :)

hi, even though he reveals his name, do u think that is the real name? if you were him, would u wish to have someone asking u "oh, you are the one starting a blog telling your homeless story!!" when you go, e.g. an interview?

then, why does the identity matter, when we can't even sure it's a real one?

sorry, not inviting a fight but just having some views to express :)
